LoPrinzi Classical Guitars
Augustino LoPrinzi began his career as a luthier making classical guitars. While the LoPrinzi’s instrument lineup now includes other styles, the classical guitar remains a traditional favorite of both our luthiers as well as our players.
Features of a LoPrinzi Classical Guitar:
Soundboards and Bracing Patterns
Time and tradition has designated spruce and cedar as the ideal soundboard tonewoods for a classical guitar.
- Spruce: Produces a clear, focused sound, rich bass response and a complete tonal spectrum.
- Cedar: Responsive treble notes blend beautifully to form a powerful driving resonance.
Bracing: The system of internal supports under the soundboard determines a guitar's ability to produce sound for many years of successful playing. Fan bracing was standardized by the great 19th century Spanish maker, Antonio Torres. Our 20th century transverse patterns balance the treble with the bass response. Augustino LoPrinzi takes special care to develop bracing patterns which provide an even, dynamic response to the player's individual touch.
Scale Length:
The standard 650mm scale, as formalized in the mid-19th century by Antonio Torres, the father of the modern classic guitar, meets the needs of most players. Realizing that people have requirements determined by personal style, Augustino LoPrinzi has wisely chosen to design the bracing and body dimensions of each model to enhance the tonal possibilities of three essential scale lengths: 640mm, 650mm, 664mm. The scale length, used to compute the fret placement, is the distance traveled by the strings from the string nut to the bridge saddle.
